REACT. CD-ROM. pound;50 from Shell Education Service. Tel 0207 934 1234.

Using film, facts and data, React from Shell allows pupils to wise up on solar, wind, biomass and other types of renewable energy. They need to as they're in a control centre, where the brief is to solve energy problems that come in from the world. A family want to replace a diesel generator with something less noisy; folk in Japan want to know about tide and wave power; some Guatemalan villagers want help to grow energy crops. It's a motivating enough task, given a fun and colourful multimedia setting that will suit ages 11-14.
