* The Centre for British Teachers will be allowed to provide state-funded "on the job" teacher training - despite three of its distance-learning courses being failed by inspectors in as many years.

The TTA said the not-for-profit organisation had met the criteria required to be one of 91 bodies which run and recruit to the graduate teacher programme.
