Challenge to bus ruling

5th August 2005 at 01:00
Ceredigion council has been given the go-ahead to challenge three schoolboys' landmark victory over free transport to their Welsh-speaking school. The appeal court has said it will hear the case, after dismissing legal arguments that the council was obliged to take its appeal to the House of Lords. Last year, Matthew Jones, Byron Rees and Aled James won free transport to Welsh-speaking Ysgol Preseli, eight miles from their homes but across the county border in Pembrokeshire. Ceredigion had offered free transport to its nearest Welsh school, but this is 18 miles away from the boys' homes.
