Change for the better

19th September 2003 at 01:00

There is a shortage of resources on personal finance for secondary pupils with moderate or severe learning difficulties. A pack of activities that will interest teenagers is being piloted and is now available online.

Produced by the Personal Finance Education Group, it focuses on coin recognition and giving change in realistic role-play. The ideas are adaptable for three levels of ability. They include arranging to see a film, getting equipped to go to the beach, and dealing with a neighbour who offers to do paid chores. Information on replica coins is included on the website. The Personal Finance Education Group pack is available at www.pfeg.org
