Charity cash-strapped

A teaching charity has launched an urgent appeal for donors to help it keep up with growing demand for financial help. The Cymru branch of Teacher Support said more teachers were applying for grants and loans to help them cope. The average amount awarded per applicant in Wales is pound;1,352, compared with pound;970 for the charity as a whole across the UK.
