TELEVISION chef Antony Worrall Thompson and Falklands veteran Simon Weston will be among celebrities judging awards for outstanding achievement in education Exam board Edexcel's 2003 Achievement in Education Awards judging panel also includes presenter Johnny Ball.

Edexcel is encouraging nominations for others whose performance in education deserves special recognition. Students, teachers, trainers, governors, journalists and employers can be nominated for one of the 11 categories.

The winners will be invited to a celebration dinner at a top London hotel where they will be presented with an award by TV personality Kate Humble, former host of Tomorrow's World and Top Gear.

More than pound;30,000 in prize money will be shared between winners and their educational centres. But the benefits are more than just financial rewards. Past winners have found that the award has not only helped them academically, but personally in finding a job and boosting self-confidence.

Mark Szortowski, 2002 Outstanding Student of the Year Award said: "Winning the award looks excellent on my CV and opens many doors. I would certainly encourage others to participate."

Nominations can be made online at www.edexcel.org.uk. Alternatively call 020 7758 55155501 or email achievement@edexcel.org.uk for further information. The deadline for nominations is March 14.
