Childcare boost

A FOUR-WEEK publicity campaign by the Executive to recruit 5,000 childcare workers by 2002 has been launched by Nicol Stephen, the new deputy minister for education, at the Birrell Collection Nursery in Edinburgh. It is aimedat fulfilling the targets for providing widely available and affordable childcare.

In July the Executive published a two-year plan for the training and development of workers in early education and childcare.
