Childcare costs rising

The cost of childcare is continuing to rise above the rate of inflation, according to a study carried out by the Daycare Trust.

London and the South-east are the hardest-hit areas, with prices in inner London rising by more than 17 per cent on last year, to pound;197 a week for a child under the age of two.

The average cost of childcare per week in England is pound;141, while in Wales it is pound;120.
