The Christingle celebration, which takes place at any time during December, derives from the 18th-century Moravian church and is increasingly observed in schools. Centred on the emblem of a candle burning among fruits and sweets, it symbolises a world lit by love. The Children's Society has produced a pack to explain more about Christingle and to fund support for runaway youngsters who may feel far from festive. With two shot dramas and three scripted assemblies, together with money-raising ideas, it will enable primary children to help their contemporaries.
The Christingle pack is available free for schools from The Children's Society, Freepost, Edward Rudolf House, Margery Street, London WC1X 0BR Tel: 020 7841 45214535. Fax: 020 7841 4500. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Website: www.the-childrens-society.org.uk
