27th October 2000 at 01:00
A TEACHING assistant proved why she's so effective in the classroom this week when she broke the world record for the loudest scream.

Jill Drake, 48, let out her amazing yell of 129 decibels - one higher than the previous record - while taking pat in a competition at the Millennium Dome as part of the Greenwich attraction's half-term activities.

When told she was officially the loudest person in the world, Jill, of Tenterden, Kent, said: "I knew I was loud, but not that loud."
