Colleges need sickies help

Sickness absence is thought to have cost FE colleges in Wales pound;8 million in 2002-3, according to the Welsh Assembly's audit committee.

Sickness levels - at 8.9 days per staff member - compare well with the rest of the public sector. But colleges could do more, with 11 out of 25 not even recording absence figures.
