Colossal catapult

12th March 2010 at 00:00

A-level maths and physics students from Cardiff High School were given a unique opportunity to test the theory of applied mathematics - on a replica medieval catapult. Cardiff Castle has taken delivery of a colossal catapult, or trebuchet, a deadly 13th-century military machine, from the set of new film Ironclad. The students' work will be put to the test on March 27 when the six-ton weapon is fired in public in the castle grounds.
