YOUNG FIRST AIDER OF THE YEAR. St John Ambulance is looking for young people who have put the skills learned with its Three Cross Award Scheme to good use. As part of its golden jubilee celebrations, the SCS is inviting music enthusiasts to submit, by August 31, a short (4-15 minutes), celebratory choral work with organpiano accompaniment suitable for a four-part amateur choir. The winner will receive Pounds 250 and their composition will be originated on disc and performed for the first time on National Music Day (June 1997). Entry fee: Pounds 10.
