Awards are on offer to second-year Advanced GNVQ students for outstanding work in business studies, leisuretourism, artdesign and media studies. There is also an award for a generic communication assignment. The category winners will receive Pounds 100 scholarships and go on to make a business presentation at GST. A panel of judges will select the national winner, who will receive a Pounds 500 scholarship. Details: Eileen Allen, 0161 828 5243.

Yorkshire sixth-formers, college and university students are invited to produce a 4,000-word project on any aspect of exporting, based on a study of a local Yorkshire company. The IoD and Leeds Business School will give practical support. Judging takes place in spring and the winners set off in June on a three-day trip to Brussels to see the European Commission, European Parliament and British business community in action. Entrants should register interest this month with Di Burton, 01423 770256.
