THE RIGHT IDEA!

Amnesty International is inviting young people aged seven to 18 to produce individual or collaborative pieces of performance, written or visual work - such as posters, songs, raps, cartoons, murals, stories, films, sculptures or dances - designed to make the Universal Declaration of Human Rights more accessible. Judges include author Nick Hornby and poet Benjamin Zephaniah. Closing date: October 16. Teachers' pack from: Beverley Duckworth, 0171 417 6374; e-mail: bduckworth@amnesty.org.uk CANINE CHALLENGE

The winner of this National Canine Defence League competition was 12-year-old Laura Tillson from Basingstoke, who was awarded a trip to Disneyland Paris. Entrants were required to design a poster, which would increase awareness of the serious responsibilities of dog ownership.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

For the second year running, a team of lower sixth form students from Friends' School Lisburn, Co. Antrim, has won this competition run for 16 to 19-year-olds by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Jude Bunting, Jacqui Kinghan, Mark Stevenson and Jenny Thompson provided a business solution for a fictitious European car manufacturer hit by recession, needing to find new markets outside western Europe. They won a trip to New York and a trophy.
