Education Secretary Gillian Shephard will be speaking at the Design and Technology Association's annual conference at Barwood, Gloucester on July 6 and 7.

The theme will be "design and technology - the future" and there will be sessions on good practice in design and technology and in information technology. DATA is also holding an initial teacher education conference for potential secondary teachers on May 15 and 16 at the Swallow Hotel, South Normanton, Derbyshire. And in October DATA is holding regional conferences to explain what new GCSE courses will be on offer and help schools make decisions about which ones are suitable.
