"Craft and design: where are they now?" is the theme of the National Society for Education in Art and Design's annual conference at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London from May 2 to 4. The Welsh National Convention of Excellence in Engineering and Technology, organised by Engineering Education Scheme Wales, will be at Celtic Manor Resort Hotel, Newport, on April 4. Design and Technology Association representatives are to form part of the national key stage 3 strategy team which is preparing the framework and materials to be trialled in September. "Exploring Rooms: the future of design education" is the theme of a conference at Hasbro UK, near Heathrow Airport, June 27. Presentations include: Hasbro on the design and production methods of one of their Action Man products; Trevor Baylis OBE on his design experience; Lloyd Ansell, North London Collegiate School, on the virtual design school; and Professor Geoffrey Harrison, Nottingham Trent University on the continuum of design education.
