Contrite critic

1st December 2000 at 00:00
YOU published my criticisms of the Office for Standards in Education for failing to take seriously the issue of unintentional racist language in inspection reports (TES, November 17). On the very day the piece was published OFSTED sent me copies of their inspector training materials whichdeal fully and sensitively with the concerns I raised.

As a critic who berates OFSTED when it gets things wrong, I feel I need to point out when it gets things right - much as it goes against the grain!
