Councils ring the changes

Three innovative educational schemes were acknowledged last week in the annual excellence awards in local government. They were Port Ellen Primary for its school grounds, Glasgow's "fuel zone" project to improve healthy eating and its "sense over sectarianism" initiative. The awards, run by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, attracted 175 entries.
