JUNE 2-4. ENGLISH RENAISSANCE GARDENS AND EMBROIDERY TODAY

Adult education weekend at Missenden Abbey, Buckinghamshire. Speakers include: Christopher Thacker, garden historian, and Thomasina Beck, who embroiders, writes and lectures at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Peter Lea-Cox, the conductor, will present songs he has set to Renaissance and modern garden poems. Fee: Pounds 150 residential, Pounds 64 tuition only. Details: 01494 890296.

MUSIC AT LADEVIE

International piano summer school in a French 18th-century chateau for students aged over 17. Bursaries available for advanced students and also for pianists from sixth forms and colleges keen to explore the relationships between the performance of poetry and music making.
