AUGUST 1-29 (THURSDAYS) ART OF GLASSMAKING SUMMER SCHOOL Sunderland Museum and Art Gallery has organised sessions on stained glass (Pounds 10); "classy glass" (Pounds 25) in which participants will make a paperweight or scent bottle; "sassy glass" (Pounds 6), in which ordinary wine glasses and jam jars will be transformed into decorative accessories, engraving (free), and silk painting (Pounds 10).

AUGUST 5-9 AND 12-16 RAINFORESTS Edinburgh Zoo's education centre is running one-week summer courses on "Rainforests" for 6 to 8-year-olds, 9 to 11-year-olds and 12 to 14-year-olds.
