The curse of the TES Scotland strikes again. Just over a year ago, our Going Places extra featured the merits of a residential stay at Kaimes outdoor centre, near Muirkirk in Ayrshire. Sadly, it has already fallen victim to the South Lanarkshire cuts.

The same extra also noted how the Caol Ruadh centre in Colintraive was "having to adapt to keep the wolf from the door".

The heading was "Surviving in a harsh climate".

Guess what? It closes today.
