Date for standards

Standards for staff training in colleges could be in place within a year, according to the FE Staff Development forum, which this week launched a development project to draw up teaching standards for lecturers.

Dr Graham Peeke, who heads the forum's secretariat, said: "Development of national standards will ensure that newcomers to the profession are trained to high professional levels and that experienced lecturers are offered professional development that responds to their changing needs."
