Dear Gordon Brown...

22nd June 2007 at 01:00
We teachers don't usually grumble. I know some of our union reps go over the top every Easter at their conferences - I think it must be the sea air.

But we are actually a bit brassed off to find inflation has eaten up our pay rise even before we've received it (see page 4). Is this any way to reward us after all the changes we've delivered (and had to put up with) this past decade?

It's not really about the money, but about trust. It's the same with all those tests and the suffocating restrictions that stop us doing our jobs properly. Do please listen.

Oh, and good luck.
