Deputes to apply for own jobs

Perth and Kinross has become the latest council to restructure secondary school management posts as part of what it calls its "improvement, impact and inclusion agenda". All 32 existing depute heads will have to apply for just 26 posts, which will have remits for school improvement and for staff and pupil support. Unsuccessful candidates will will be redeployed as teachers on conserved salaries.

The authority is to recruit 10 business managers for its secondary schools and their primaries, on a salary range of pound;30,060-pound;32,444. The primary management structure is to be reviewed.
