Russell Crowe will be the face of Jack Aubrey, hero of the film Master and Commander. Based on the novels of Patrick O'Brian, it offers a series of naval adventures set in the Napoleonic Wars. A study guide suggests ways in which students can explore the differences between history and fiction, or investigate cinematic methods of linking character and motive to plot and action.
