I am currently directing the Teachers' Incentive Pay Project, a two-year research study based at the School of Education, University of Exeter, which is investigating the introduction and implementation of performance-related pay.
The funding for this project comes from the Leverhulme Trust, an independent funding body, so it is free from political pressures.
During the course of this research we are undertaking several related studies of teachers and heads. One of these is an investigation into teachers who have been unsuccessful in crossing the threshold, so we can find out their views an experiences of the procedure.
