A TEACHER was thrilled to take lunch at an official reception next to Donald Dewar (yes, such is the extent of excitement in the teaching life) and exuberantly spilled the details when she got home.

"Do you know a guy called Donald Dewar?" she asked her five-year-old.

The lad looked puzzled. "Is he in primary 1?" First Minister, yes, first year, no.
