Douglas Osler is clearly fed up with gloomy media messages about schools. So much so that the Inspectorate's top man has taken to writing his own headlines.

At the launch of Education for Work in Grangemouth last week, he drew attentin to the fact that HMI's report was "genuine good news about schools in Scotland".

Osler went further. "Inspectorate praises work of schools - now that would be a headline to frame," he mused. Happy to oblige (see page six).
