DOUG McAvoy has romped home in the National Union of Teachers' election securing himself another five-year term as general secretary. He defeated the left's candidate Christine Blower by polling 39,245 votes to her 22,183. He said the result clearly demonstrated the membership was not interested in a shift to the left.
