Olympics on display

As part of the Belair On Display series, Collins Education has released Projects Inspired by the Olympics, a book full of activity ideas that can transform dreary classrooms with celebratory displays.

What is it?

- Chapter 1: takes pupils through the history of the Olympics, from ancient Greece to all-time record breakers.

- Chapter 2: pupils can explore the design behind the games. How would it look if the event was planned in their home town?

- Chapter 3: creating awards such as medals and celebrating global diversity will help pupils to learn about the world around them.

- Chapter 4: taking inspiration from Hockney and Matisse, this chapter gets pupils exploring Olympic sports with paint and scissors.

Why is it useful?

Each activity lists resources needed with a step-by-step lesson plan. Cross-curricular links are included and each page is decorated with illustrative examples of how the work can be turned into a display.

What else?

Develop pupils' research skills with bevevans22's Olympics Challenge, including subjects from the Berlin Olympics to British Olympians.

Tpet.co.uk has shared a number of posters about the ancient Olympics to get your display started.
