A NEW programme to encourage schoolchildren to get fired up about politics in the run up to the general election was launched by Home Secretary Jack Straw this week. Learning Through Elections, which is designe to be used in citizenship lessons, includes classroom activities introducing pupils to the British constitution and electoral system, and stressing the importance of voting when they are old enough.
