Engineering - How cool is this?

A new campaign is attempting to boost the profile of careers in the refrigeration and air-conditioning aspects of engineering.

It hopes to overcome the presumption that refrigeration inevitably involves kitchen equipment. In fact aeroplanes, satellites, operating theatres and data centres all rely on this technology.

A website, aimed at pupils, includes interviews with trainee engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, researchers and managers.

The Institute of Refrigeration says the industry is worth half a billion pounds annually, employs over 40,000 people, and includes about 5,000 servicing businesses.
