A professional development award is being launched by the Scottish Qualifications Authority for teachers who develop their skills in teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages.

A professional development award is being launched by the Scottish Qualifications Authority for teachers who develop their skills in teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages.

The new award is aimed at those new to ESOL, or experienced tutors who have no recognised ESOL tutoringteaching qualifications. It may also be appropriate for teachers of other subjects who have ESOL learners in their classes and wish to develop a broad understanding of issues related to English language development.

The PDA Introduction to Tutoring ESOL will be launched at four events across Scotland in September and October: Edinburgh, September 17; Inverness, September 23; Glasgow, September 24; Aberdeen, October 1.
