Eton Collar

Fancy a job at Eton? Live and work in a beautiful location saturated in history, with fields rolling down to the Thames, views of Windsor castle and the occasional "glorious smell of chocolate" from the Mars factory in Slough.

It's an opportunity to work in an area where you'll have Michael Parkinson, Trevor Bayliss, Rolf Harris and a newsworthy family of aristocrats as close neighbours. And the boys are so helpful.

"It's a happy little village school," says the headteacher. "We often get telephone calls for the College."

So that's Eton - as in Eton Wick CofE First School, where Jn Robinson is looking for two teachers, one full-time and one maternity cover. But what's all this talk about the boys?

Eton Wick has good links with the other place and 18 boys a week spend half a day working as classroom assistants. But not Wills or Harry?

"No," says Jan. "Bit of a relief really. What would I have done with the detective?" But the boys are well turned out, and after all, how many other teachers have got a classroom assistant whose parents have coughed up pound;20,000 for the privilege?

Contact Jan Robinson at the school for further details on 01753 860096.
