EU poster accolade

Wester Hailes pupils have also shone in a European Union competition which required them to research and create a poster on the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The WHEC2 team of Jordan Hickey, Nicole Ewins and Kirsty Merrylees and Danielle Johnstone came second in the 15-18 years category of the UK section. "The modern studies students worked really well together and now have a clearer understanding about the rights of the child in Europe and across developing countries," said Stuart Sinclair, the school's principal teacher of social subjects. He was particularly impressed with the way they researched and selected the content for their posters, and the high level of presentation skills they demonstrated when explaining the notions behind their work to a London audience.
