"Let's kick racism out of football" is the theme of the national anti-racism week of action in football, running until October 25.
Organised by Kick It Out, football's anti-racism campaign, it celebrates the contribution made to football by black, Asian and other ethnic minorities. Schools organising events can apply for T-shirts, badges, wristbands and publications and may also host a footballers' exhibition - Pioneers, Past Masters and Future Challenges - which celebrates the achievements of black sporting heroes while explaining the historical context. Players featured include Arthur Wharton, the first black player in English football (in the 1880s), and Viv Anderson, the first to represent England (in 1978).

Olympians and British champions are among members of a team giving away 3,000 introductory snowsport lessons to schools until November 27. These are held during the Snowlife "Have a Go" day, staged at artificial slopes.
Covering everything from the basics to mountain safety, the presentation is held in PE lessons or as a workshop to year groups over a morning or afternoon session. It includes a video show, QA sessions, equipment displays, trampoline demonstration and giveaways. An accompanying teachers'
pack advises how to plan snowsport activities in schools.
