EASTER EGG HUNT

Annual event at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1, this year takes children through its new exhibition on World War II evacuees. They will be rewarded with free chocolate mini-eggs. Details: 0171 416 5320.

SHANTIES AND MUSIC OF THE SEA

Traditional music of the sea performed by strolling groups in the National Maritime Museum galleries, Greenwich, 12.30-4.30 pm. From April 9-12, noon, 2 pm and 3.30 pm there will be a performance of puppetry, storytelling and artwork by the "Laughing Root Theatre of Puppets" bringing Captain Cook's voyages of discovery to life. AMATEUR ARCHAEOLOGISTS

Children aged 7-10 will uncover and record archaeological evidence in an imaginary excavation at Blake's Lock Museum, Reading. Sessions will be held at 11 am, noon, 2 pm and 3 pm. Fee: Pounds 1.25. Details: 01734 390918.
