Exit notice for Nicolson

The Western Isles gave the go-ahead on Tuesday for consultations that could lead to the merger of the 1,000-pupil Nicolson Institute in Stornoway with the 200-pupil Lews Castle vocational school, the disappearance of the 125-year old Nicolson name and the clear-out of the school's senior managers, who have been at loggerheads with education chiefs.
