Extended day for primaries

Many British primary schools will be open between 8am and 6pm under plans to expand childcare.

The Department for Education and Skills said it was pushing ahead with plans for extended schools offering a range of services, including childcare and health, on-site. "We will have at least one 'extended school' in every community," it said.
