The extra mile, or two

8th December 2006 at 00:00
Is it just me or are there too many jobs-worths involved in schools? Teachers can be bad enough, but I'm hacked off by technicians who won't let me do tasks which would benefit the school because it is in their remit, not mine. But do they get round to it? I sometimes wonder just what they do do. There have been only two technicians on my school travels who have gone that extra mile to help. All I get is what can't be done.

Thankfully, one of the depute heads is on the case and he's not impressed, but it will spoil any future chance I have of getting things done without having to kick up a fuss.
