Extra pound;55m for English and maths

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has announced pound;55 million in additional funding for pupils in England in need of help with English and maths when entering secondary school. The new pound;500 "catch-up premium" will be handed to schools to give extra help to nearly 110,000 pupils who fail to achieve level 4 in either reading or maths at the end of primary school.
