Does your class play fair? If so, they could be on the receiving end of a great match. As usual, we'll be giving away a box of Dubble fair-trade chocolate bars each week, but this term every winning class will also receive a match- quality Team football from Fair Deal. The ball is hand-stitched by adults in Pakistan, who earn a fair wage for the job. So as well as being a top-quality piece of kit, it is helping give child labour the boot.
To kick off the new term, this week's winning class is the Year 5 group from Edward's Hall junior school, Southend-on-Sea, who last year were taught by Natalie Smith. Ms Smith left the school at the end of last term, but her parting shot was a eulogy to her pupils, who, she says, are "a group of little survivors". Ousted from their classroom while new windows were fitted, they had to endure lessons in the hall, a school merger and an end-of-year trip that went horribly wrong when the coach broke down. Ms Smith says they remained smiley and cheerful throughout a manic year.
