Feast of football

14th January 2005 at 00:00
Santa would have looked a sorry sight in Hull over Christmas, were it not for the efforts of Joy Bennett's 1D and 1E students at Hull college's skills for life unit. The Santa and sleigh in question were the mainstay of the local Round Table's Christmas fundraising efforts, but the vehicle hadn't received so much as a lick of paint in 15 years. Ms Bennett's 16 and 17-year-old students came to the rescue, working flat out and giving up their break times to bring the sleigh bang up to date, including a new light and sound system. In recognition of their stirling efforts, we're sending them this week's fair-trade treat of a box of Dubble chocolate bars and a football from Fair Deal Trading.

Does your class play fair? If so, email friday@tes.co. uk to tell us why, and they could receive a box of Dubble bars and a Fair Deal football. The chocolate comes from a Ghanaian collective and the football is hand-stitched by adults in Pakistan, helping to end the widespread abuse of child labour. Mark your message Dubblefootball offer.
