Feast of football
Special needs co-ordinator Jennifer Pearce supplied a catalogue of fair-trade goods from Peru and Colombia so the children could research the food, then present their findings about fairly traded goods. All the children, including those whose mother tongue is Farsi or Bengali, and the 30 per cent of special needs pupils, took part, and learned "La Cucaracha" in Spanish, which they sang at the end of the festival. To reward their efforts we're sending them a box of Dubble fair-trade chocolate bars and a football from Fair Deal Trading. For more information on fair trade go to: www.dubble.co.uk; www.fairdealtrading.co.uk.
Does your class deserve a fair-trade treat? If so, email firstname.lastname@example.org. uk to tell us why, and they could receive a box of Dubble bars and a Fair Deal football. The chocolate comes from a Ghanaian collective and the football is hand-stitched by adults in Pakistan, helping to end the scourge of child labour. Mark your message Dubblefootball offer.
