Colleges may be where most of these glittering stars come from, but many are so cash-strapped for anything but skills training, they are seeking National Lottery grants for "other" adult learning (see page 6).

Some have successfully bid for "non-core" education cash in the past. Seven years ago Stoke-on-Trent College received pound;7million. Then there's the printing department at Bradford College, where a syndicate has just won Pounds 5.3m. So, don't despair if you are not successful with an official bid you can always try your luck with a ticket.
