Festival of learning

5th June 2009 at 01:00

Bookings are coming in fast for this year's Scottish Learning Festival on September 23-24. The first seminar to be fully booked is Curriculum for Excellence Early Level: Developing a Common Approach to Learning across Nursery and Primary One, and others are filling up rapidly. Over 7,000 visitors are expected at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference in Glasgow, so teachers are encouraged to register now to be sure of getting into the seminars of their choice. This year's keynote speakers are Education Secretary Fiona Hyslop, Ferre Laevers, director of the Research Centre for Experiential Education at the University of Leuven in Belgium; Carol Dweck, professor of psychology at Stanford University in America; and Frank Dick OBE, former director of coaching for the British Athletics Federation. The TESS, one of the show's sponsors, is holding its own session on the second day, chaired by editor Neil Munro, where teachers are invited to share their views on ACfE. There are 170 seminars and 200 exhibitors to choose from.
