Finding the right teacher;Letter;Opinion

LJ Smales of Burnham upper school (TES, June 25) was concerned that the school did not qualify for the Teacher Training Association scheme to help recruit and train secondary science and mathematics teachers.

I can assure the school that TimePlan will be more than happy to help fill the vacancy if a suitable teacher has not yet been found. I am sorry that there seems to have been some misunderstanding when the head of science first enquired.

I can confirm that the TTA wants to help any maintained school which is having difficulty filling a science or mathematics post. Under the scheme we have already received many applications from maths and science graduates and are currently matching these applicants with vacancies in the schools who have registered for the scheme.
