Former student hits right note

FErret has been given some interesting information for those who like to listen to modern music.

A young man called Daniel Bedingfield, who apparently has been doing rather well in the hit parade, is famous for having composed his 2001 No 1 single "Gotta Get Thru This" (sic), in his bedroom in south London.

Less well-known is a piece of work he composed at Lewisham college, when he was a student there. It is called "Welcome to Our World" and is now used as the jingle on its telephone switchboard.

The number is 020 8692 0353.

Normal call charges apply but callers will first have to listen to the welcome message from college principal, Ruth Silver.
