Staff governors, heads, parents and anyone with an interest in how schools are run will relish Questions School Governors Ask, a collection of questions and answers from The TES's weekly Agenda column, by Joan Sallis.

An essential complement to her two previous collections, the book covers the years 1998-2003, and includes updated advice in the light of regulations made under the Education Act 2002, which could significantly affect the way governors work. Written with Joan's trademark humour, humanity and candour, it is divided into four sections: roles and boundaries, problems of representing others, the headteacher and the governing body, and working together.

The book is published by the Network Educational Press, and costs pound;7.95, but we have 15 signed copies to give away. For a chance of winning one, just send your name and address on a postcard or by email to the address on the right marked Governors offer. The first 15 names out of the hat on May 27 will win.
